![]() It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver. Wednesday night, Mr. Biver hosted a private auction dinner with Hublot and African Wildlife Foundation at the American Museum of Natural History. Supermodel host Veronica Varekova enlisted friend Molly Sims to moderate the auction, which had jetsetter Lapo Elkann walking away with a coveted Hublot watch. Russell Simmons tweeted about sitting next to Chelsea Clinton, who arrived with fiancé Mark Mezvinsky and all but sprinted past the photographers at the entrance. New York Governor David Paterson spent the evening watching the Juxtapower dance performance with other guests Stavros Niarchos and Ted Forstmann. ![]() The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) announced recently supermodel Veronica Varekova, who has been featured in campaigns for Sports’ Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret, to be the newest AWF Goodwill Ambassador. Another newly appointed AWF Goodwill Ambassador and young investor, Ben Stein, has joined Veronica in the hopes of aiding in efforts to raise awareness and funds for the organization’s initiatives. “I am honored and proud to be part of such a wonderful organization and I’m happy that Hublot’s Jean-Claude Biver and Ben Stein have been able to join me in the creation of this event. I have made frequent trips to Africa in the past couple of years and experiencing AWF’s work first-hand inspired me to join such an important cause”, says Varekova. The luxury watch-maker Hublot got involved through its recent partnership with Varekova. Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver says, “Hublot enjoys the constant challenge of leading the industry through our guiding principle of fusion, but as such leader we believe it’s important to also take on the responsibility to give back to the world around us”. ![]() Press and VIP guests then joined Jean-Claude Biver and Supermodel Veronica Varekova for a press conference at the newly reopened Upstairs Club at Downtown Cipriani, where discussion centered on Hublot’s 2010 ad campaign and the brand’s support of the African Wildlife Foundation. The crowd lunched on signature watch-themed dishes and drinks including ‘Big Bang All Black Risotto’ and ‘Big Bang Orange Carat Mimosa,’ while enjoying an advanced viewing of Hublot’s new collection, to be formally launched at Basel 2010 in March.
