Observing the market for what appears to be one of the most necessary of accessories in interior design, New York based designer, Fred Aguirre a.k.a. Fred Red, sees a void in the customization and design of these important accents.
When struck with his own dilemma of searching for the perfect pillow to go along with the eclectic style of his own home he launched his first line of pillows this past spring for Bergdorf Goodman. Usually uninspired and costly for the value, Fred Red seeks to add some life and sophistication into the pillow industry delivering us three collections exclusively for Barney’s this Fall that morph conventional images to create collectible contemporary pieces. Fred Red’s collections use color and familiar images along with his extensive background in fashion, and interior design to influence the designs. Combining metallics with solids, and bursts of bold colors with black or white, he adds luster to the accessory allowing it to bring vivacity and modernity to any space. With a twist of tradition Aguirre uses flamboyant color combinations to complement each other in a brilliant clash of color and shapes. Parisian couture inspires the Modern Hollywood line, using real Swarovski crystals to adorn the center buckle and give this collection its glamour and glitz. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hazard signs seen on subways and construction sites influence the Modern Stripes collection. ![]() ![]() ![]() Even a wristband, a gift from his wife, Fred Red converts this personal possession into a blueprint for the Modern Argyle collection. ![]() ![]() ![]() Akin to Pop Art, this collection uses a clash of colors, and geometric shapes to create an eye-catching voluminous pattern. Isolating the repeated design of the classic argyle pattern he uses bold pairings of color to balance even the most diverse of interior styles. Each pillow is made from fine Italian leather imported to and tailored in New York containing 95% goose down, 5% duck insert lined with his signature red and white gingham; inspired by and old shirt. Each pillow is also adorned with an oversized metal zipper engraved with the Fred Red logo adding to the one of a kind feeling of each piece. The company customizes pillows offering an unlimited supply of color to match every customer’s own unique style. Retailing anywhere from $295-$695 a pillow Fred Red offers a modern yet timeless piece of interior art that will add flair to any space. -By Nadia Boulejiouch For more information visit http://www.fredredny.com/ ![]() Tags:
